Timeline settings
The Timeline settings dialog controls the look of the timeline: time scale, grid, segment labels and handles, execution range, and colours. It opens from the Settings button in the main editor toolbar, or from the Settings → Timeline Settings menu in the start window.
General tab
| Setting | Description |

| Timeline step unit | Unit used for the timeline and playback stepping interval. |
| Step value | Numeric value of the stepping interval in the selected unit. |
| Scale (ms/px) | Defines how many milliseconds are represented by one pixel. Lower values increase zoom. |
| Main vertical grid | Show or hide the main vertical grid in the timeline. |
| Main grid transparency (0-255) | Transparency of the main vertical grid, from 0 to 255. |
| Secondary vertical grid | Show or hide the secondary vertical grid between major lines. |
| Secondary grid transparency (0-255) | Transparency of the secondary vertical grid, from 0 to 255. |
Segments tab
| Setting | Description |

| Label font size (pt) | Font size used for segment labels. |
| Label offset X | Horizontal offset of the segment label relative to its automatic position. |
| Label offset Y | Vertical offset of the segment label relative to its automatic position. |
| Segment line width | Thickness of the main segment line. |
| Selected segment extra thickness (px) | Extra thickness applied when a segment is selected. |
| End handle radius (px) | Radius of the segment end markers, in pixels. |
| End handle border (px) | Border thickness of the segment end markers. |
| Minimum range width (ms) | Minimum allowed width of the playback range, in milliseconds. |
| Animation range start (ms) | Default start time of the playback range, in milliseconds. |
| Initial animation duration (ms) | Default duration of the playback range, in milliseconds. |
Colors tab
Click the coloured button next to each item to open the colour picker.

| Label text color | Color of the segment label text. |
| Range fill color | Fill color of the playback range area. |
| Range border color | Border color of the playback range area. |
| START marker color | Color of the playback range start marker. |
| END marker color | Color of the playback range end marker. |
| Default track color | Default color for segments and tracks when no specific color is defined. |
| Segment handle border color (default) | Border color of the segment end markers. |
| Segment handle fill color (default) | Fill color of the segment end markers. |
| Track background | Normal background color of timeline tracks. |
| Selected track background | Background color of timeline tracks when selected or highlighted. |
| Main grid color | Color of the main vertical grid. |
| Secondary grid color | Color of the secondary vertical grid. |
Apply and cancel
Press OK to save the settings and update the timeline immediately. Press Cancel to exit without changes. Settings are saved in a JSON file in the MotioForge Studio configuration folder.
