Audio segment editor
The audio segment editor opens with a double-click on a SOUND segment in the timeline. It lets you associate an audio file with the segment and configure the binding between volume and a servo (e.g. a mouth servo).
Audio file
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| File | Path of the audio file associated with the segment. Use Browse to select it from the domain folder. |
| Browse | Opens the file browser filtered for supported audio formats (WAV, MP3, OGG). |
audio/ subfolder of the domain.
MotioForge Studio saves relative paths: the project remains portable across different machines.Volume → servo binding
The Link a servo to volume section lets you automatically drive a servo based on the audio signal amplitude. Useful for synchronising a character's mouth movement with speech.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Servo | The servo element to link to the volume. Choose from the domain element list. |
| Min volume | Minimum volume threshold (0–100): below this value the servo is at its initial position. |
| Max volume | Maximum volume threshold (0–100): above this value the servo is at its final position. |
| Min position delta (°) | Minimum angular movement required before a command is generated. Reduces jitter. |
| Samples per step | Number of audio samples analysed per movement step. Controls responsiveness. |
Frequency → servo binding
The Frequency bindings section lets you link different frequency bands (bass, mid, high) to separate servos. Each band can control a separate element for more expressive effects.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Bass/mid threshold (Hz) | Frequency separating the bass and mid bands (default 250 Hz). |
| Mid/high threshold (Hz) | Frequency separating the mid and high bands (default 4000 Hz). |
| Exclusive bands | If enabled, each servo responds only to its own band without cross-influence. |
| Bass / Mid / High | For each band: associated servo and minimum/maximum positions. |
Fit segment to sound duration
The Fit segment to sound duration button automatically resizes the segment in the timeline so that its duration matches exactly the length of the selected audio file. Useful for effortlessly aligning a SOUND segment to the actual length of the audio track.
The button is only active when a valid audio file has already been selected.
Generate servo segments
The Generate Servo Segments button (visible when a binding is configured) analyses the audio and automatically creates the corresponding servo segments in the animation. Generated segments can be edited like any other segment.
Volume follows parameter
If the animation is parametrized, the Volume follows parameter box makes the volume of this sound follow the parameter value: silent at 0, full at 1023. It works in the ARES preview; DEIMOS does not play audio. If the animation is not parametrized the box is disabled.
