Main editor
The main editor is MotioForge Studio's central window: here you create, edit and play back animations. It opens by double-clicking an animation in the start window.
To create a segment on the timeline, hold the Shift key, click the left mouse button on the desired track, and drag horizontally to set the duration. Release the mouse to confirm. The segment is created immediately and can be edited by double-clicking it.

Toolbar
Animation menu
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Run delimited area | Starts playback only within the area between the start and end markers. The default key is F3, configurable in Preferences. |
| Run full animation | Starts playback from the very beginning to the very end of the animation, ignoring the markers. The default key is Ctrl+F5, configurable in Preferences. |
| Stop animation | Immediately stops playback. The default key is Shift+F5, configurable in Preferences. |
| All tracks active | Enables all tracks for playback and diagnostics. Has no effect on segment editing. |
| No tracks active | Excludes all tracks from playback and diagnostics (useful for isolating individual tracks during testing). Segment editing remains fully available on all tracks regardless of this setting. |
| Centre play area on current position | Moves the start/end markers to centre the play area on the current cursor position, keeping the area width unchanged. |
| Used elements... | Shows the list of domain elements actually used in the segments of the current animation. |
| Save | Saves the current animation to disk with all segments in the timeline. |
| Properties | Opens the animation properties: name, activation mode, and tracks. |
| Export DEIMOS v1... | Exports the animation to binary format for the DEIMOS v1 firmware. |
Elements button
Opens the domain element editor, where you can add, modify or remove servos, switches and audio outputs.
Segment menu
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Insert segment | Inserts a new segment on the selected track at the current cursor position. |
| Segment properties… | Opens the edit window for the selected segment (position, speed, type). |
| Delete segment | Deletes the selected segment. The default key is Del, configurable in Preferences. |
| Close final segments to initial value | Automatically adds a closing segment on each track that returns the servo to its initial position. The default key is F6, configurable in Preferences. |
| Copy track... | Copies all segments from one track to another compatible, empty track. |
| Segment list… | Opens a tabular list of all segments in the current animation. |
Diagnostics menu
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Diagnose current animation | Checks the consistency of the open animation: overlapping segments, out-of-range values, servos missing from the domain, and tracks not returned to their initial value. |
History menu
| Item | Key | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Undo | Ctrl+Z | Undoes the last change (move, resize, create or delete segment). |
| Redo | Ctrl+Y | Restores the last undone change. |
Settings button
Opens the timeline settings: track colours, row heights, and other visual options.
Exit button
Closes the main editor and returns to the start window. If there are unsaved changes, you will be prompted to save them before exiting.
Track list
Each row corresponds to a domain element. Clicking a row selects the corresponding track on the timeline. The list shows the element's name, type, and colour.
Each row has a small checkbox on the left. Clicking it toggles the track between active and inactive. An inactive track is excluded from playback and diagnostics, but segment editing (creating, moving, resizing, deleting segments) is always available regardless of this setting.
Timeline
See the dedicated page: Timeline.
Undo and Redo
MotioForge Studio tracks all changes: moves, resizes, creations, and deletions of segments. The history is limited to the last 100 operations.
Parameter slider
For parametrized animations the top bar shows the Parameter slider (0–1023). It simulates the sensor or external command: during playback it scales the amplitude of the parametrized servos and the volume of linked sounds, even while the animation is running.
